Facts About Yorkie Poos

Yorkie Poos are small-sized adaptable dogs that loves to perform tricks, cheer people up and have a knack for a good time but don’t let their cuteness fool you, these dogs are also known for being a protective house pet and will confidently barked at you if they feel that their owners are being threatened. These dogs make great watchdogs and also a clown in disguise. What a great combination!

These dogs have small fluffy heads and they usually have black, medium- sized, round-shaped eyes that are not bulging with small-sized, triangular ears that maybe erect and also have a short silky coat. The most common colors for the Yorkie Poo breed include cream, black, white, red, sable, apricot, tan, chocolate, gray, and silver with mix markings.

As gorgeous as they may appear, unfortunately these dogs are not qualified for dog a show because it is not yet recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC) and is classified as a designer breed.

The Yorkie Poo is a breed that was originally developed as a small-sized low maintenance dog with hypoallergenic coat that is perfectly suited for families and  for sensitive people and that is also free of the genetic disorders that affected the parent breeds. Yorkie Poos are built to be a house companion and also serve as a watchdog. The Yorkie Poo is a very active, agile, intelligent dog and a highly trainable breed, this hybrid dog also have wide variety of sizes and weight created by breeders and dog enthusiasts. Yorkie Poos are very loyal and only trust people with whom they form very strong bonds with; they may tend to greet intruders with glee and excitement because they are naturally people-oriented but they know how to deal with it.

Yorkie Poos often described as a “clown in disguise” are confident by nature, though they can be a little bit witty around strangers. Proper socialization and training from a young age will help prevent the Yorkie Poo from being suspicious of new people. Yorkie Poos do very well as family pets and they can also be good with children.

This breed needs and loves a firm and consistent training; they are bold and they’re great protectors to their owners, very ideal as first pets. Yorkie Poos, like other dogs, have a tendency to have unstable, aggressive temperaments which can be also dangerous to innocent strangers, that’s why socialization and training at an early age is highly recommended.

The Yorkie Poo stands about 7 to 10 inches tall at maturity and there is only a slight difference in size between males and females of the breed. These dogs weigh between 5 and 12 pounds on average. Since the Yorkie Poo is a very active and agile dog, it has a great deal of energy and needs a lot of daily exercise to work off that energy. The Yorkie Poo doesn’t require regular or excessive amount of exercise and it can adapt to almost any kind of environment, they are generally curious yet controllable indoors as long as they get enough mental and physical stimulation during the day and has proper house training.
