Since your Pueblan Milk Snake will largely be dependent on its keeper for sustenance, it will not require live food to hunt and eat. When in captivity giving the PMS live food to chase after could result in a great big mess and the PMS could get injured from a live animal defending itself from prey.
Juvenile Pueblan Milk Snake
Juvenile Pueblan’s may be given pinkie mice at the beginning and then can be shifted to and given hoppers, fuzzes and eventually adult mice. Give your PMS a moderately-sized mouse approximately measured to the size of the thickest part of the snake.
Juvenile PMS’s at this stage grow a tad rapidly and will eat every 3 to 5 days. As the PMS gets older, it will need an appropriately sized mouse every 7 to 10 days.
You will want to research foods you can feed your PMS; however, feeding your PMS frozen and/or thawed mice and chicks will be your best bet to nourish your snake. You will want to find out from the breeder how they feed the snake whilst with them as this will give you a better idea of how to continue feeding it when the PMS goes home with you.
Refrain from handling the snake for a period of 24 hours after it has fed. Time, observation and experience has taught PMS owners that the stress of handling the snake may cause it to regurgitate its food, creating an unpleasant situation for both the snake and the owner.
